He shares 7 tips on how to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
1. Ensure to take prenatal vitamin
A woman’s a nutritional and vitamin needs increase with pregnancy. At times expectant mothers do not always take in enough nutrients in their daily diets. Prenatal vitamins are meant to fill the nutritional gap.
2. Have a birth plan.
Every birth is a unique experience. Having a birth plan not only informs you about all your options during labour. It at the same time, gives information to your caring team about your preferences.
3. Drink Water
When pregnant you need more water than average to help form amniotic fluid, produce extra blood, build new tissue, carry nutrients, enhance digestion, as well as flush out wastes and toxins.
4. Eat folate-rich foods.
Folate, also known as vitamin B9, is a water-soluble vitamin that has many important functions in your body. Some women need more folate than others. Talk to your doctor about what dose of folic acid is right for you.
5. Get Plenty of sleep.
Ample sleep mostly between 7 to 9 hours is important for you and your baby. Try to sleep on your left side to improve blood flow.
6. Avoid certain foods
- Uncooked or raw fish
- Limit caffeine intake
- Avoid all alcoholic drinks
- Smoking
7. Plan the right time to get pregnant
Choose a time when you are healthiest, this will increase chances of having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy birth
